Highly influential in the Californian surf culture, he is best known for his comic \u003ci\u003eHot Curl\u003c\/i\u003e and for creating the TV show \u003ci\u003eShrimpenstein\u003c\/i\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eMichael Powers\u003c\/b\u003e was born in Long Beach, California, and grew up on the beaches of Southern California and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is an attorney and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of the Pacific.
