About the Author

Leijia Hanrahan (1987–2022) grew up in New York City, where she lived and worked as an essayist, poet, translator, and tenant organizer. She was deeply involved in movements for housing and transit justice in cities across the US and lived for a time in Santiago, Chile, where she translated political texts and documentaries to amplify the work of protestors during the 2019–2020 Estadillo Social. Her poetry has appeared in Protean Magazine, The Mantle and Parentheses Journal; her critical essays in The Baffler, The New York Review of Architecture, The Architect’s Newspaper, Failed Architecture and IllWill.com, among other publications.

Madeline Lane-McKinley is a feminist writer, parent, and teacher based in Portland, Oregon, whose books include Solidarity with Children (2025), Fag/Hag (2024), and Comedy Against Work (2022). Madeline is also an editor for Blind Field: A Journal of Cultural Inquiry.
